  • When entering demanding markets, the Maca powder is irradiated at the Peruvian Institute of Nuclear Energy (IPEN).  In this case, even though itís still not proven that irradiation can or cannot cause cancer or other alterations, some markets such as the Japanese have restricted the entrance of irradiated maca.

THE RAW MATERIAL

The result is a high-quality product able to compete even in the most exigent demanding markets.

The process begins after the selection of the Maca roots, then continuing with the careful disinfections. Finally, the roots are dried at high pressure and temperature for a very short time in order to reduce the minimum of any possibility of contamination by microorganisms in the final product. 

Special care has been taken in the selection of the cooking-drying method. Under carefully controlled parameters to assure a low level of final humidity (9-11%), allowing the long chains of starches to unfold without denaturalizing the active principles, making the Gelatinized Imperial Gold Macaô  a product 98% digestible and complete in its properties. 

The cooking-drying process applied to the gelatinized Maca  guarantees that the final product has similar properties to those of the maca consumed traditionally by our ancestors. Indeed, it assures the none existence of cyanhydric acid acid (toxic element found in the raw Maca).
